Hi All

I am an infrastructure engineer by choice but working in a position now where i have a few mundane manual tasks that really should be automated. My biggest problem is knowing where to start and actually selecting the correct language / db etc for my platform. Here is a summary of what i want to be able to do ...

Have an automation web page with login
Once logged in, ask user what vCloud director
Once connected , give a list of vCloud director VMs and let user choose which one they want to work on
Once selected, have an option to "get current free disk space" and "increase current free disk space "
Once selected , either display current free disk space (API call to appropriate vCenter) or increase disk space (via vCloud director and then via windows guest OS )
The above needs to be fined tuned etc but what i just want to get an idea of is what language and framework would be best suited to this kind of work ? What language / DB etc is best suited to it . I was thinking php and mysql ?

Thanks for any help

chorn
