If your asking for what I think your asking forum, search or just read through these forums because I answered this question VERY recently.
Terra Design, my business and sole / huge PHP project... a fully dynamic and adaptive site engine.
If you know that it is always going to be a jpg and all you want to do is remove the .jpg at the end you can use the str_replace() command
