User Unvironment variables not available to server script.

Postby bitman2112 » Wed Jan 29, 2014 9:40 am

Hi.

I am tweaking a PayPal IPN listener script and needed to connect to a MySQL database to do some fraud checks. I was uncomfortable with my database user name and password staring me in the face in the IPN listener script.

I found where someone had suggested placing the username and password in user environment variables where apache cant access and that worked it a test script but the IPN listener is server to server communication and in that section of the script the user environment variables are blank. - great. :(

I had tried to use an include file in a php file in a "far and distant" folder on the server but could see the username and pw variables set there in the main script and am tired of chasing that rabbit.

Is there a way my IPN server script can read in these environment variables? Or do I have to go back to the drawing board.

Thanks in advance,

:Ron
