Notepad++. Consumes less memory as compare to other IDE. It is freeware and available on http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.1.4.html

Notepad++ is one of the best I have ever used. At least of the free ones.
I personally like Dreamweaver most (I guess, most of you do ;) ), because it's a really powerfull editing/creating tool.
Sincerely,
D. Berletta

Use notepad ++ or netbeans. You can use netbeans in Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and Solaris. It is also free and open source. Whereas notepad ++ can be operational only in Windows.

At the basic level, I like to use NotePad++. It is very simply and user friendly.
On a more technical level, I love using Adobe Dreamweaver. It has built in functions for working with PHP code. Example: Record Sets and Dynamic Database Connection.
This helps to minimize about of hand coding I have to do.
