I have been tasked with by hand converting .pdf documents to HTML pages. The Brass has the bright idea that this will save on paying for translations since Google Translator can translate all the text for us...
Anyone who has used Google Translator can agree that it is about as useful as a poopy flavored lollipop but the good little soldier that I am, I decided to go along with this scheme.
To save on manually having to convert these documents (with lots of pictures that have lots of text overlays) I was going to try using Adobe X to convert them.
Anyone have experience with this software. Is it worth investing in the license?

Basically I got to the point where:
I convert from pdf to word with no images because it maintains the format better than pdf to html.
Then after that I add all of the images back into the file and convert to html using word's algorithm.
Unfortunately, MSWord 2007 (because my shop is cheap and hasn't upgraded, not that it would necessarily make a difference) does not deal with browsers newer than IE6, and has no support for Mozilla.
On top of that it cannot handle data formatted into multiple columns.
So now it seems like I will have to go page by page, book by book (bout 35 pages per book) and hand code everything into html.
RAGE!

Crazy.
If they are too cheap to buy Office, they are probably too cheap to buy anything from Adobe.
I sit in the same boat.
It's OK for the company to spend big $$ on the pres.. but when we want .7mm pens to write with, apparently that's entirely way too much.
