Today i received an email from a friend saying that Firefox 2 RC 1 came with a different search plugin style and asking what was the part inside the image tag.
Than i explained. No, no! Don't ask me what's that inside the image tag! You'll soon find out :)

So i decided to make a search plugin. This are for both Firefox 1 (not sure but at least 1.5.x) and Firefox 2.x (project name "Bon Echo"). Search Plugin for Firefox 1.whatever (

Code: Select all

   description="Search function list"
<input name="pattern" user>
<interpret browserResultType="result" charset="utf-8">
<browser update="" updateIcon="" updateCheckDays="30"> Search Plugin for Bon Echo ( :

Code: Select all

<SearchPlugin xmlns="">
<Description>Search function list</Description>
<Image width="16" height="16">data:image/x-icon;base64,Qk02AwAAAAAAADYAAAAoAAAAEAAAABAAAAABABgAAAAAAAADAADEDgAAx
<Url type="text/html" method="GET" template="">
  <Param name="pattern" value="{searchTerms}"/>
  <Param name="sourceid" value="Mozilla-search"/>
Give them the names you want, note the files' extensions. For both Firefox versions, both files should reside in the firefox searchplugins directory.

I think i'll make one for the forum but... not without a great forum 16x16 icon.
Don't wanna blame no one, but someone got to make it, right Alexei !? :D

Hope you like this stupid idea :)

Because the "web developer" extension is not compatible with Firefox 2 (yet), i got the 1.5.7 again and noticed that the plugin (the first one) can't show the image.... i guess the people from got a hotlink protection. So you better save the image in your firefox extension directory and change its location in the plugin. If you have problems with .ico, try changing it's extension to .png.
