php test

Postby buddy » Sun Jan 11, 2004 9:58 pm

I just enabled PHP on Mac OS X, but when I tried to test it, the PHP info is not showing up. Here is what I did. I created a file in dreamweaver and wrote the following code:
<html>
<head>
<title>PHP test</title>
</head>
<body>
<?php
phpinfo()
?>
</body>
</html>

The "<?php and ?> are shown in red (I think it means error)
I can tell that the page is there (by looking at the title), but the PHP info is not showing up. What did I do wrong? pls help. Thanks
buddy

In the browser, go to View > Source. If you can see the PHP code there, it means your server settings are wrong and not processing the PHP files. Some details would be nice -- what server are you using, for example?

I was actually following a tutorial on the book. Sorry, I'm blind to programming and database, but when you said server, is Apache you're referring to? Mac OS X came in with Apache server and a limited PHP that includes MySQL support.

you need to configure apache to parse php files.
apache config
it's like
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
AddAction application/x-httpd-php /php
