i know session expired use to check how long a user is log in, but where should i put this code, is it in all my php pages or certain only? thanks

It seems to make sense to use it at the beginning of your code, before you attempt to create a session.

How do you check "How long a user is log in", if you can, maybe you take a session then subtract it to previous session . So why do you wonder your page have session start or not, because seesion is store in the server and you can take it whenever you want.
Of course, if you want to check session, you must have it at the beginning of your code.
