Front Page News for PHPBB

Postby Highlander65 » Wed Feb 18, 2004 5:25 pm

Many of the sites that use PhpBB and other boards use an index page with news bulletins sorted by most recent. I am assuming that they are using the admin section to enter new news. I would like to create the same format for a board I am creating, but I can't find a mod for it anywhere. I would rather not write what has already been done. Can anyone point me to such a mod?

Thanks!

I had the same problem a few days ago... now it´s over!
Well almost people are using PhpNuke, but there are some guys who still use some great MODs. I´ll use it too, for my next website version!

Anyway... you´re looking for this!

It is very nice and I like the features, but not exactly what I'm looking for. I want a news section in the middle instead of the forum topics. Nice mod though. I'm sure I'll use some of it.

Well, not sure of what you want, anyway... here is another MOD which let´s you create a blank page in your forum! You can use it for a news section. Not sure how to put it as the entrance page!

I´ve used it too!

Here is: Blank page

Can you show some website just as an example?

Um, that site's front page has nothing to do with phpBB or VB. It's a completely separate piece of software, probably PHP-Nuke or PostNuke or maybe something custom.

Yeh... swirlee is right!
Anyway... if you´re using phpbb, there´s a 'portal' MOD out there, easely to modify!

Yes, I know Swirlee. It's that style that I would like to see. Try this one http://unrealmachine.com They seem to have one thread that gets used for news instead of getting the most recent posts. I am looking for code to do something similar without lots of modifications.
Thanks.

That looks like it was either developed in-house or uses some commercial package. But I couldn't say for sure.

There are literally hundreds of content management systems out there. Shop around until you find the one that's right for you. Here's a site that might be helpful:
