is asp.net conflicting with my server (IIS) and php5?

Postby satsteve » Sat Nov 27, 2004 5:46 am

I am trying to do my first php script (todays date)!! I get the following......
Today's Date in (according to this Web server)
Thats it.....I do not get the date displayed. why?

here is the code for above 8-O ....

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-// W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<title>Today's date</title>
<meta http-equiv="content-type"
content="text/html; charset=iso-8859" />
</head>
<body>
<p>Today's Date (according to this Web server) is
<?php

echo date('1, F dS Y.');

?></p>
</body>
</html>

Can someone recomend a book or some online tutorials that walk you through using php5, mysql, and dreamweaver mx?

when I type localhost in my explorer the page that loads is http://localhost/localstart.asp . Is asp.net conflicting with the php files and if so how do I alter it to stop? Is it a case of simply uninstalling asp.net or should I keep it there for some reason?

I can't wait to get started learning php but all this is proving quite frustrating that I can't even start!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

My guess is your server just isn't configured properly. Load the page in your browser and do View > Source. If you can see the PHP code there, it means it's not getting processed by PHP. Make sure you follow the installation instructions that came with PHP (as well as IIS); you may need to restart the server after making configuration changes.

No ASP.NET will not conflict in IIS PHP works as CGI. No relation to ASP.NET

1. be sure what IIS and Apache configured on different ports like
http://localhost:8080 - apache
http://localhost:8081 - ISS
2. Type in URI string correct address with port.....
