New install help configure.....index.php

I just installed Apache 2.0.45 and php 4.3.1 on windows 2000 5.00.2195

I got php to work, I tested it with phpinfo(); but when I create my document "index.php" in the htdocs directory, I cant get it to load as the index page. when i go to http://localhost I see a directory listing with my index.php.

What am I missing, what do I need to do?

in your httpd.conf file for apache you need to add index.php to your DirectoryIndex

Right now it is probably just index.html

Try or http://localhost/index.php
or do what say Redcircle
