how to connect php with mssql server

hey,
i am using sql server 2008 and apache 2.2.x and php 5.3.x.......... and windows 7
as i am newbie to php and i want to connect php with mysql but when i write
mssql_connect() function, it give me fatal error that undefined mssql_connect function........

how to resolve this,plz

what are you writing, and what error are you getting? are you using wamp server?
