problems with oci_connect()

Postby vaughtg » Thu Jan 13, 2011 11:22 am

:help: :help: :help:

I am new to PHP, so life is pretty interesting for me at the moment.

My current challenge is that I am unable to connect with my database via oci_connect().

Given the following credentials:
myUserAccount
myUserPassword
myHostString (from tnsnames.ora)

I am able to log into SQL*Plus, both the GUI tool and via CLI using

Code: Select all

$ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus myUserAccount/myUserPassword@myHostString

yet, when I attempt to use those same credentials to open a connection to Oracle, it comes up a bust.

There are other PHP pages on this server, accessing this database, so I'm pretty certain it's not a server or database configuration issue. And, as noted above, I've essentially ruled out the account issues. Any ideas or suggestions as to what it could be? Or am I doing something so ignorantly wrong that I could burn at the stake for it?

Thanks for your time.
