Hopefully this is the right forum for my quesitions...
I am just starting to learn PHP after being away from programming for a number of years (classic ASP). I'm trying to get a grasp on what technologies I need to learn and to what degree. Do programmers use a gui to create the web pages and then add the php script? How much is memorized and how much if referenced? Are custom classes commonly created? Any tips are much appreciated.

Gui? No.. (GUI is for Microsoft Developers)
I find it hard to believe that any one person knows everything PHP can do out of the box..
Every programmer in the world uses references, read blogs and forums to find better ways of doing things.
