Regarding the usage of photos instead of avatars . I have seen a large usage of these photos (instead of avatars) on wigiwigi forum . I like the usage of these photos instead of avatar . From my point of view photos gives more "human touch" to internet . It's much better to communicate with a photo instead of an avatar .
You may imagine and create a personal idea about the man behind the photo . With an avatar you can't . It's only my point of view ..
