Check out jream.com's php basics videos. i think they'll get you a good jumpstart before you even get to the point of buying a book. There are 18 or 19 videos in the basics series, and there are also advanced videos also once you've completed them. The videos do a pretty good job of breaking some advanced concepts into basic english for people with little to no programming experience and get you through whole concepts in a matter of minutes, far more quickly than a book usually. http://jream.com/learning/videos/php-basics
