form submit problem in netscape

Postby hondavtr » Fri Aug 23, 2002 4:59 am

I can't work out why this form just seems to hang when I hit the submit button in Netscape 4.77 (I need it to work in N 4.77 for an assignment) - it's fine in IE. I've tried post instead of get with the same result.
Is there some quirk in Netscape 4.77?

<html>
<body>
<form NAME="MForm" method="GET" action="Results_data.php">
<table>
<tr>
<td> Subject:</td>
<td>
<input type="text" name="subject" size="35">
</td>
</tr>
<tr><td colspan="2"> </td></tr>
<tr>
<td> </td>
<td>
<table>
<tr>
<td><input type="reset" value="CLEAR"></td>
<td><input type="submit" value="SEARCH"></td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</form>
</body>
</html>

Thats odd. I just tried it in NS 4.79 and it worked just fine.

Could it be your installation? Try re-installing if you have the available time.

Try it with POST? I dont know if you have that much lee-way in your assignment.

What does it do?

Try adding a javascript onSubmit command to see if that is at least called. All else fails you could always do something like <form onSubmit="document.location='new_page.php';"> and then build the query string from JavaScript.

Other than that, im fresh outta ideas at the moment. Sorry :\

Will

Well, I was sure it was working this morning .... I did install Dreamweaver MX since then and although it seems unlikely, maybe it did something to Netscape (I am really grasping at straws).

I did try post - no luck with that either.

I guess I'll reboot, if that doesn't help I'll reinstall Netscape, then if it's still not working I'll tackle the javascript.

Thanks - it's good to know that it does seem to be working.

ALL FIXED!

After a reboot it's back to normal - I guess the Dreamweaver did stuff it up.

I'd probably still be trying to work it out hours from now if someone hadn't told me it worked for them - thanks again.
