adobe dreamweaver cs6 has a great autocomplete feature. For someone just getting there hands dirty in PHP, I approve, but it's expensive! Buy student edition :D

Personaly, I like EditPlus for its FTP as local directory support...
Any other PHP editor supports this?

On Windows, I've been using Notepad++ which has an ftp plugin which works very well.

I came to this forum looking for a linux IDE which incorporates features like that and in which I can plugin a debugger. All the IDE's I've played around with are fat, ugly and slow. I'm taking suggestions . . . .

WHat has this got to do with the OP? Your question has nothing to do with PHP editors, please remove and start your own thread in the appropriate forum. ANd when you move it, please state what your code is and exactly what problems you are having with it as what you have put doesn't mean anything.

Notepad++ if it's not already been said, you can even customize the colors to make it easier to read.

Sublime Text 2 is the best code editor I ever had. It supports not only PHP but also almost ever popular programming and scripting languages. Like JAVA, Python, Rube, C#, C++, SQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and many more. It is light and fast and also available many useful plugins like Zen, FTP etc. I think every one should try this code editor!

As a beginner am using Adobe Dreamweaver CS5

and its good.

The features that most attract PHP developers are its site-specific code hinting, integrated CMS (content management system) support, and the extended Dreamweaver community supported by Adobe.
