izit need to set up SMTP sever to exchange email??

i had tried to set up SMTP sever..and trying to test it..i had create a html page and php page to run it..
why got error??the error is recipient is blank...
pls help me ...

• what server (smtp, web server) are U using
• what is the blank recepient message, if you get the message, IE smtp server is allright..
• Post some code
