TrueType / OpenType Fonts

Ok, I'm running Apache 2, PHP 4.3.1 with GD 2 (freetype support), and MySQL 3.23.

I've being making dynamic images with fonts and I've noticed that when I use a TrueType Font from free font sites all I see are cubes, but when I use OpenType Fonts like Arial it works great. So my question would be: Is this a code problem? if not, could somebody direct me to a TrueType to OpenType Font converter?

i did nt find any error in work gd2.
I have use some truetype fonts and thay works perfectly.

Hmm, well these are my results...
OpenType Font: http://xerpher.myftp.org/samples/image.php
TrueType Font: http://xerpher.myftp.org/samples/image2.php

By the way, if the font says "TrueType Font file" in Windows or has the extension .ttf that does NOT mean its a TrueType font.
