imagettftext -- Write text to the image using TrueType fonts

This function requires both the GD library and the FreeType library.

I don't suppose there is another way? because I somewhat doubt that my host would install those for me.

am not sure whether imagemagick has a truetype support - failing that (which you'd need installed anyway) you'd need GD with truetype (the freetype.org distro works better imo)
