images display noob question

Hi all,

Hope you can help, I am learning php and just need to ask a quick question.

I want to display a image in php, and wondered what the code would be, the image name is a string eg $image="test.jpg" and is in a image directory.

if you have saved the file name of the image all you have to do is echo out the image tag like so:

clickable how? You can click on that image it will just do nothing... If you want to tie the image to a link you can just surround it with <a> tags like so:

<a href='somerandomwebsite.com'><img src='test.jpg'></a>

If you want to do something more complex like tie it to a javascript action involving AJAX or client side alteration of the page it is a little more complex and I would rather have an idea where you were trying to get than over generalizing the solution
