Easy import format?

Postby bufhal » Wed May 05, 2004 1:21 pm

I am trying to find out how to import data into phpmyadmin with Excel-or some other format that is easy. Our users need to have a specific format to follow.. I heard Excel will export CVS files..Can anyone tell me the easiest way to import? the records have 11 columns:
date agency city day time location building_room street zip phone contact
I will be adding multiple records 20-30 at a time and probably end up with 2-400 all together..
Thank you :)

just click the table you want to export....

and on the top, there is a tab, "export"
click on it.. and then it will provide you with various options , one of them being CSV [comma separated values] which Excel can understand...

and then click the submit button to receive the values

getting error when loading CSV

Postby bufhal » Thu May 20, 2004 8:34 am

Hi
Could the reason I get this error be the version of the MySQL database or phpmyadmin?
Is there a simple way to upload a text file in CSV format? :o
Getting this error:
Error
SQL-query :
LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE 'C:\\Backup\\dot\\uploadtemp\\php673.tmp' INTO TABLE `agencies` FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
MySQL said:
#1148 - The used command is not allowed with this MySQL version

That´s it!
Try LOAD DATA INFILE instead!

LOCAL is just available in MySQL 3.22.6 or later!
