Free PHP Host with FTP support

Hey guys,

Is there a free PHP host available, hopefully a stable one, that supports FTP too.

Can you guys give me some leads.

About my earlier post. I still have to try what you guys had suggested for installing PHP on Apache.. I will let you guys know when thats successful..hopefully :wink:

I used to use Barrys World until I moved to paid for hosting.

I'm not recommending them as being brilliant, but it did the job.

Barry's world has temporarily shut down their free hosting thing :cry:

They allowed me to register, but the hosting part is unavailable as of now. Can you suggest any other free hosts, supporting PHP & FTP for the timebeing ?

What Waldo says is true, most of the English hosts dont provide the facilities mentioned on free-php-hosting.com anymore !

I found one though which I was using before I posted this, its http://www.xoasis.com, they have a webbased interface. They do allow FTP too, but what I find is, you always get a 'permission denied' error, when you want to delete or even chmod the uploaded files, or reupload, using a FTP client.

It kinda pisses you off.. and yes the web interface is very difficult..and they dont have a chmod function there.. which is necessary for some PHP files to run.

This has been my general experience, looking for a free PHP Host :roll:

:idea: Sometimes i work on my sites from my office... however i'm blocked by a firewall so i cannot install mysql GUI like MySQL Front (i use it a lot)..
i found a web based mysql data manager similar to phpmyadmin (but limited) that could help anyone in the same situation :

Free PHP, MySql, 50Mb and good php/Mysql admin functions.
They have some banners that pops up in your pages, but some PHP/MySql scipts like PHPbb and xgra.com scripts kills them.. (if You ounderstands why... tell me).

I know about some paid hosting site's which are cheaper as compare to the free hosting site's as free site can't provide you the service and facility.

Looks like a very interesting deal, jiakingcool. Are you affiliated with them at all? When I'm back on my own PC I'm definitely gonna sign up for the free account, if only to see if the free socks proxy is for real. And a one-time US$10 for a shell account like that? I haven't seen a deal like that since like 1998!

Hell, if they could guarantee 99% uptime for the next 5 years I'd gladly pay $50/yr. But alas, such sites never last long.

But what's up with their arcane sign-up method for the shell accounts? I have to print out and physically mail or fax the form to Sweden, even if I'm just going to pay with PayPal?? And, though I can hardly balk at the trivial one-time US$10 fee, what's up with the wonky fees? Why do some folks only have to pay US$2 by virtue of lousy exchange rates? Converting the currency isn't that difficult.

Anyway, I'm definitely checking it out. I wish there were some sort of free trial so I could see if the shell account is worth paying for. Thanks for the link, jiakingcool.

You have to use the UK site. The USA version doesn't offer PHP/MySQL.
