is the code you've pasted the code for your func.php file? The error leads me to believe that you have either an unterminated literal string, or a missing semicolon before the referenced line, but neither is the case in the code you've posted. In addition, what version of php are you using? you're using a lot of deprecated functions and coding practices. magic_quotes, etc. If this code is based on a book you're learning from, you may want to get something a little more current. Many advances in security have been made since this code would have been used in practice.
