Blank pages

When I get blank pages without any errors, I have a syntax error somewhere. Sometimes they are very hard to find. It drives me crazy that I get no error.

Not sure what is happening to you but maybe it is a simple error. Debugging can be a pain.

I simply use:

$ipaddress = getenv("REMOTE_ADDR");

and then echo it out or store it in a database or whatever.

???

Not sure what you are asking? What do you mean when you ask "...so that the URL is only displayed ...?" Do you want to display a link? What, exactly, should the user see if the password is correct? The code I provided will display the URL link only if the password is correct. If you test the entered...

Search

The javascript pageSearch(iVal) function is not called in the HTML page with the search form on the site for which you provided a link. What they are doing is hidden by the fact that they are using PHP on the server side to process the form data and, of course, we can't see that. I would guess they ...

Outputting a URL link with a PHP script

In the code you show below, the HTML <A href...> tag is inside the PHP script but <a href> is not php code but HTML code. The PHP processor will probably error on the tag. You need to output the HTML tag string to the HTML page, escaping the quotes that are part of the <a href> tag. <? $adminpass = ...

Error trying to use sessions

I copied code (an entire .php file) directly from an online tutorial and received the following error message: "Warning: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started ... on line 14" Line 14 is simply "session_start();" The php faq says "... headers can only be sent before all...

Sorry, :oops:

I found the answer in another part of this forum.

Amazing now that I know what the answer is, I can find it everywhere. But when I was searching all over the net, I couldn't find it because I didn't realize what the problem truely was.

Problem with environment variables

I installed PHP 4.2.3 on a Win2000k server with IIS 5.0. The installation did not complete saying that I needed to finish configuring PHP manually because of a missing OCX. I followed the install.txt in the PHP directory. PHP scripts seem to work mostly. I can assign variables, read from files, etc....
