How to deactivate functions?

I am customizing a website (php + css) and am wondering how to deactivate some php functions without deleting these from the .php file in case I would need to re use these deactivated functions in the future?

Dear freshnet, when I write $mail->Body = $name . " " . $content; then the body is blank when I receive the email. Alright, I just did it and getting the following error message:

"Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in ./mail.php on line 28"

which corresponds to the line: (!$mail->Send()) {

Do you mean replacing the line $mail->Name = 'name' in the mail. php with
$name = $_POST['name'];
$mail->Name = $name;
?
