For your first question is - in my opinion - the best solution to select all with a distinct on the condistions you need to use. Put the result in a temporary table. Truncate the originale table and insert de data again from the temporary table. Second question, possible solution: (mysql 4.0 needed)...

I've tested your script but its spamming documents right away :-o So I think there's a bit more wrong this
The code I have written works until it gets to a folder that contains no other folders in it then it lists the files under the folders section.
