display a image which is in a protected directory

I used to use the following url syntax to display a picture which is in a protected folder.

http://username:password@www.example.com/abc.jpg

But recently IE6 no longer support this syntax. Is there any other way I can display the picture without prompt user for username and password??

Thx a lot!!!

How to access the network drive???

It appears that opendir() can't open directories over a network or on mapped network drives in Windows 2000.

$open = opendir("k:\\");
k: is the mapped network drive that I want to access.

Can anyone help?? :(
