Something like this?

Code: Select all

<?php
if isset( $_POST["question1"] )
{
   displayQuestion2( $_POST["question1"] );
}
?>

And then the function question2() would spit out the appropriate question, based on the argument.

Yeah, what he said... and an easy way to do it would be to optimize those images. If you don't have Photoshop/ImageReady or Fireworks or anything like that, there are plenty of free tools that can optimize your pre-existing GIFs (since whatever app created those GIFs obviously can't). That alone is reason enough to use it in my opinion. For editing a single page or something where I don't need the functionality mentioned above, I...

You might try looking at some free/Open Source PHP/MySQL apps that use install scripts. phpBB (http://www.phpbb.com/) comes to mind. Just download it and then look at the code for its install script.

You can't get to the actual PHP code--only the output... unless their server is misconfigured.

You don't really need a server-type OS to run a Web server for development purposes.

You might try out FoxServ (http://www.foxserv.net), which automates the installation and basic configuration of Apache, PHP, MySQL, and phpMyAdmin for Windows.

I'm using Mozilla Firebird these days. When I run across a site that won't behave, then I may have to fire up IE.

Based on what you've said, I think switching to PHP sounds reasonable. I was once in a very similar situation, and porting my in-progress JSP site to PHP was easier than writing it in JSP had been in the first place.
